THE WORLD’S LEADING BEACH BOYS PUBLICATION
ENDLESS SUMMER QUARTERLY, INC.
ANNOUNCES EXCITING NEWS FOR 2010
Endless Summer Quarterly Sets Their Sights On An Informative and Exciting 2010
It may not be The Beach Boys 50th Anniversary, but that isn’t slowing down Endless Summer Quarterly (now celebrating its 23rd year), ESQ editor and publisher David Beard reveals that 2010 is going to be an exciting year for fans of the Beach Boys, and subscribers of ESQ.
The magazine’s first announcement – the teaming with Goldmine Magazine’s parent company F&W Media as its printing source – comes at the same time as the welcoming of new editorial contributor Andrew G. Doe, as fulltime contributor to The Beach Boys fan publication. Additionally, Doe has moved his Bellagio website to ESQ’s online presence (ESQuarterly.com/Bellagio). The addition of Doe as a full-time contributor, along with current scribes Craig Slowinski and Ian Rusten, make ESQ an invaluable source of information for the well-informed fans of The Beach Boys, as well as an authentic digest on America’s Band. What do The Beach Boys think of ESQ? “ESQ goes deep into the history of the Beach Boys music, and is the most definitive word on our history,” says lead singer Mike Love. Al Jardinestates, “ESQ is an inspirational read for anyone interested in learning about the Beach Boys.” “I think ESQ is the best institution that keeps the Beach Boys legacy alive,” said David Marks. What’s Brian Wilson think? He offers, “I love ESQ!”
The current Spring edition – available now – features the history of Mike & Dean and their highly successful collaborative efforts. One of the newer aspects of the ESQ experience is the ESQ Juke Box, located at ESQuarterly.com. “This time around, the reader gets the Spring issue and can visit the site and actually listen to the Mike & Dean era material, including the rare ‘Be True To Your Bud’ promotional single,” says Beard.
What’s the rest of 2010 look like for subscribers of ESQ? An upcoming complimentary CD, special editions on the 40th Anniversary of Sunflower… “More, lots more,” says Beard, “And that’s what subscribers of ESQ have come to expect; the magazine exists for the fans and the celebration of an amazing legacy.
Endless Summer Quarterly was established in 1987 by editors emeritus Rick Edgil and Phil Mast in San Diego, in 1993 editor emeritus Lee Dempsey and current editor David Beard began publishing in Charlotte, NC with just over 200 subscribers in the summer of 1993. Within a few years the East Coast team had established a new following of readers with an incredible increase of over 1,000 readers. With the passing of Carl Wilson in February of 1998 and The Beach Boys pursuit of individual musical interests ESQ refocused on the individuals and their musical contributions both to the band’s history as well as their individual output. Considered to be the world’s leading Brian Wilson/Beach Boys/Jan & Dean publication by the group members, their associates and historians worldwide ESQ continues to create historically memorable editions with David Beard’s positive vision and desire to celebrate the band’s legacy.
ESQuarterly.com now includes a complete back issue order form (dating 15 years back to 1993) with a breakdown of every edition as a downloadable PDF file. The new “user-friendly” site is only the beginning. Watch for more ESQ announcements that will provide subscribers and online viewers with a better product and more enticing elements including an unheralded new staff of Beach Boys historians in the coming months.
