I have been a fan of this blog for many years, and thoroughly enjoyed listening to your podcast. Two rather different, yet completely unique lists. I'm curious what others may choose for an album or albums to be deleted from the catalog. Compilations notwithstanding, I would have to choose "That's Why God Made the Radio." It never truly struck me as a group effort.Vocally, it was completely a group effort, but musically, there was not enough input from Mike Al (or Bruce). If not for the closing suite - which is exquisite - I tend not to think of this release at all. I would have liked to have seen new collaborative offerings by Mike and Brian. A Dave Marks inclusion would have been wholly unique. As they went back into archive territory from the "Imagination" years, why not (in archive terms)include Al's "Don't Fight the Sea." Overall, "Radio" could have been so much more.
ReplyDeleteYou have me thinking now, what I would consider my top ten albums. In any case, I did want to share with you this post from my own site that was inspired by an article in Rolling Stone some time ago if you don't mind. Looking forward to further podcasts and catching up on some older ones. https://mortmaz.blogspot.com/2017/01/25-not-so-big-ones.html
Thanks Marty, for the kind words and for your nomination for the delete category. Please share your 10 Favorites when you complie your list!

well, never pulled up your top 10 list, Phil...maybe it's on your web site. Link was not working properly when I tried the link in Sunday Night (10/28/2018) what popped up was "PayForSurf." :) Well, the list above (Morty) had my fav, "Sunflower," recorded and promoted during the "Fred Vail era on Ivar." As to "PS" not being #1, that does NOT surprise me. When I spoke at Beach Boys Stomp in London in '03, a lot of diehard fans told me they preferred Sunflower to Pet Sounds. My only other comment, where's the "Live" album? :) Take care, always great to chime in with the "real" BB/BW fans.
