BEACH BOYS IN LONDON 1966 - RARE FOOTAGE

U.K. 16 millimeter film footage. This is a very entertaining and interesting look at the Beach Boys. The filmed footage is silent but we've added some rare and unique Beach Boys audio to accompany the film. The result is really good! And we're jaded! Click for more details.

THE MAKING OF PET SOUNDS 1966

U.S. documentary. Rare film footage. Get an inside look at what went into creating and recording the phenomenal Beach Boys album, "Pet Sounds." Includes an examination of the sessions and the album's legacy by the Beach Boys, writer Tony Asher and Wrecking Crew musicians.

THE BEACH BOYS : AN AMERICAN FAMILY

U.S. film. Two-part TV mini-series. This is the best film to date on the Beach Boys rise to fame (and Brian Wilson's mental breakdown). The film has an excellent look and feel—it very much captures a naïve early 1960s southern California.

Cool scenes of the band rehearsing, recording and on tour. See the birth of several of the Beach Boys' hit songs. Brian's fascination with Phil Spector, Van Dyke Parks, the Beatles and LSD! Cool recording studio scenes with the "Wrecking Crew." Murray Wilson was one of the worst fathers…ever.  Dennis Wilson gets involved with Charles Manson. Murray records the "Sunrays." Brian's pain in recording "Pet Sounds" and "Smile." The film ends in the mid-70s.

READY STEADY GO! - UNRELEASED & ALTERNATE - No.1 1960s

The Beach Boys: "I Get Around," "When I Grow Up." Keith Fordyce interviews Mike Love about "surf music." Mike seems confused. This was the first-ever British TV appearance by the Beach Boys.

BEACH BOYS AND SATAN

The title is misleading because the film is, in fact, an excellent documentary on the Beach Boys and Brian Wilson that features lots of rarely seen footage, serious interviews and one-off performances by Brian while sitting at the piano being interviewed in 1997. A highlight is Brian playing, "Love and Mercy."

THE BEACH BOYS - TV SPECIAL 1976

U.S. TV special. The Beach Boys perform and discuss their career. Brian Wilson is interviewed in bed and tells how he stayed in bed for three years looking at his chest and smelling cologne. THE BOB HOPE SPECIAL 1964

U.S. TV show. December 1964. The Beach Boys, Martha Ray, Nancy Wilson, James Garner, Catherine Crosby, Les Brown and his Band of Renown.  The Beach Boys play live: "Dance Dance Dance." Nancy Wilson sings live, "I'm Beginning To See The Light" and "The Music That Makes Me Dance."

INSIDE POP - THE ROCK REVOLUTION 1967

U.S. TV special. Apr-25-67. Leonard Bernstein examines creativity in pop music of the mid 1960s. This is probably one of the first examples of pop music being examined as a "serious" art form. Brian Wilson  performs "Surf's Up." Click for complete details.

UNSUNG 70s SOUL GROUPS - 1 & 2

SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE
Among the most influential groups in the history of popular music, Sly and the Family Stone fused funk, soul, rock, and R&B to create a sound that resonated well beyond the charts. Led by the brilliant and charismatic Sly Stone, it was a sound that reflected the idealism of the 60s, and the fracturing of those ideals in the 1970s. The band's performance at the Woodstock festival in 1969 showed a group at the height of their powers, while suggesting a future of unlimited musical possibilities.
