Fred Vail: Cows in the Pasture update … and much more!

What I assumed would be a 5-10 minute phone call update from Fred Vail unfolded into a deep dive into the Beach Boys story.

"To all my fellow Beach Boy Brian Wilson die-hards,

I hope you enjoy this interview I did with Phil.

It’s always great to talk about what’s going on in my life and

some stories about my days with

America’s Band. Have a great week. Take care."

• "Cows in the Pasture" - Fred's update on the recording process and the documentary progress ... speculates on the inspiration for the album's title

• Fred's Beach Boys timeline: booked their 1st arena event (1962), driving The Beach Boys from the airport to their first Sacramento concert (and Carl's surpise they were the featured act!), in the room with Brian and Mike writing "The Warmth of the Sun" the night of Kennedy assassination, in the studio with Brian listening to the first after-mixing playback of Pet Sounds, seated next to Dennis on a piano bench as Dennis plays Pacific Ocean Blue (pre-release)
